This statement was incorporated in the article:

Gateway (GTW) has picked AMD as its

supplier of microprocessor chips. Gateway said Intel Corp.

So Gateway has AMD as a "second source". I guess this is backup in case Intel loses the recipe and has yield problems. Right.

Just heard a Celeron 400 MHz computer, with plenty of beef for memory, HD et al ad on the radio from Fry's ...$799! How many people will bother with AMD inside for the same price? You want a BMW for $20K, or would you rather have this Fiat for the same price?
