FWIW-even though I have played virtually all internet stocks from the short side I am long ALU. When reading ALU's numbers, understand that their core business is distribution. ALU seems to have plateaued this quarter with revs and earnings but they have had 5 years of solid growth. Forget, the internet, the distribution company is worth $8-$10 a share. As far as FC goes, regardless of what stake the Jacobs family takes (17% or 34%) it makes the IPO more likely for them to cash in. Regardless of what you think of the merits of the company, the fact that they are real and have sales means that the IPO will make the stock price soar. That might be a good time to short, but now its suicide, because IMO, the IPO is inevitable.

An added danger on the short side is the very real possibility of a stock swap for FC by another online retailer or wannabee. With the market cap of ALU so low, it would be a pittance to any of the companies with no earnings, few revs but 10 to 100x the market cap.

Best,

Timoteo
