i believe you may be to harsh on bgp management. they seem to be correcting the advertising mistake. bgp has mentioned the fact they are promoting the internet site and brick and mortar stores.

I think you're being a little harsh with BGP. What are you looking for when you bought BGP? Surely you knew that BKS and AMZN were ahead with their online sites and that BGP would have to play catchup.

Whether the market wants to hear it or not, DiRomauldo is right. This frenzy about Internet stocks will be the death of this current market. The current valuations are pure lunacy. In the future, with a mature company and proven staying power, sure. But not now. I'm afraid of what would happen when more and more people realize this. The market is filled with too many idiots (I'm not saying that you're one). Think about it this way... AMZN is worth about the same as AA (Alcoa), CAT (Caterpillar), more than twice GT (Goodyear Tires), IP (International Paper), JPM (JP Morgan), S (Sears Roebuck), and more than 3x UK (Union Carbide). Why these companies? Because they're part of the Dow Industrial average. That's NUTS!

My bet right now is to buy some BGP at this level (I have) and some BKS. Why BKS? They just bought out Ingram, the biggest book distributor. When you are a bookstore and you are also the distributor, the others are at your mercy. BKS has been low lately.

As to the employees with the body piercings and tattoos, they might just be smarter than you give them credit for.

P.

What RC said.

As someone who has followed BGP closely since even before it was a public company, my jaw dropped when I read the WSJ story.

Change the logo colors?? Send out coffee coupons??

It DOESN"T MATTER whether or not we think investors ought to support AMZN's strategy. The fact is that they are, and there's no particular reason to believe that this will change soon. Perhaps there is really very little that BGP can do to respond to AMZN now (although I think there is). Perhaps that's why DiRom cashed out.
