thanks, you mention oil drillers...i offered an inside view to mb a while back...funny how all the analysts were touting oil drillers on 10/27/97 as a defensive play...asia collapsing...i guess they didn't know that most of the working rigs were in the china sea...all they had to do was look at a map...epmi,petronas,shell,arco,et al...closed the rigs down...lease price dropped...rig owners still have to pay for the equipment, or hopefully drag it somewhere else in the world at a reduced lease...as far as energy....saudi arabia is opening up their gas operations to foreign investment...oil not far behind...turnaround from when they nationalized all interests in the not so distant past....why, basic cash flow problems...glut of energy...i learned a long time ago not to believe what you read...such as an annual report...unless you know the basic business behind it...analysts are readers, and number crunchers...very few understand the dynamics of the underlying business....if they did their calls would have a higher win percentage...buy what you know...know what you buy....

TO ALL: RE: BURKE...SUGGESTION FOR ALL OF US

AOL split, sometime back, into a thread for bulls or rational contributors, and left the other thread to bears. It worked. It's not that we don't want rational dissent or good cautionary information, but we DON'T WANT THIS! Would you all like to start a new thread? It seems no matter how we try we can't shepherd Michael Burke out the door. Why don't we build ourselves a new house?

If not, I'm going to assemble myself all the posts of late about Burke and mail them to webmistress and use my best rhetorical spin to convince her to ask him to leave.

Watcha say?

Jill
