Gottfried, I agree that legal considerations are probably THE major concern as far as warranties are concerned. If you are warned not to leave the disk in the drive and damage is caused by NOT following these instructions then the company would be off the hook regarding the warranty. I was just looking at the physical reasons why you should follow these guidelines. Yes, maybe RRKP will merge into a consultant firm and find something else to keep them occupied. A flag goes up whenever I see their names. I rarely read them as I just can't take their know-it-all attitude and demeaning choice of buzz words to support their "arguments" about what is BAD about Iomega products today! Mel
