What is an Emerging Internet stock? DownSouth: That is a good question! For the record, I previously removed NTAP from the Emerging Internet index and I believe it is remaining on the original G&K Index. Now, how to define an Emerging Internet G&K company. How about this: A G&K Internet company is one who is using its solutions to help set "standards" for the internet. AMZN is quickly setting the standard on how to be successful in e-commerce (although they seem to have a problem making money right now ;o), RealNetworks is setting the streaming-media standard, TMCS & ATHM virtually hold a "monopoly" in their areas (event ticket sales & "last-mile" solutions, respectively), and BRCM seems to be the one with semiconductors of such variety that they can supply infrastructure companies with the silicon that they need to create the latest and greatest communications technologies, whether it be the last-mile or in the heart of a LAN. Finally, one of our prominent thread members defines an Internet company as one that generates the bulk of their revenue from any combination of online media content (subscriber-based or pay per view fees), bandwidth, online advertising or online sales.
