I don't read much SF myself, but last year I did polish off a collection of SF short stories that a friend recommended. Out of perhaps 50 stories, the best by far was The Last Question, by Issac Asimov, in which he contemplates the end of the universe. He completely deserves his stellar reputation.

Phillip K. Dick ... a master.

You know, not many people realize that the cult classic film, Blade Runner, was based upon his novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. Of course, SF fans now that.
