Yup. And Women's groups should by no means compromise their principles simply because holding to them will cause them to ideologically agree with the dreaded RR. Even the RR can be right on some things.

Dan, you must get over your aversion to the religious right. They are mostly engaged in defensive actions, not trying to take over, and if you have any sympathy for social conservatism (perhaps you don't) they are good allies. Besides, African- Americans are overwhelmingly evangelicals, and agree with Republican positions on most social issues. If we can ever get about 30% of the black vote, all other things being equal, there will never be another Democrat in the White House. Finally, a lot of churches are taking seriously their responsibilities as "mediating institutions", and have some of the most effective community renewal programs in the country.
