I think that there should be accomodation of religions represented in the community. But the real issue is this: why should the sensibility of the minority trump the sensibility of the majority, that deems prayer an appropriate means to solemnize such occasions, and that specifically feels the need to bless those sent out into the world. Is discomfort an important enough reason to abridge the custom?
