A repeat of some old news...

C-CUBE CFO SAYS R&D INCREASE NO BIG DEAL.
Full Text: COPYRIGHT 1999 ComputerWire Inc.

C-Cube Microsystems Inc, whose shares dropped more than 20% Friday after several analysts downwardly revised earnings expectations, insists that the market has blown the situation at the company out of proportion. The shares fell $7.0625, or 23.79% to close at $22.625. Chief financial officer Walt Walczykowski explained that investor concern is mainly over planned increases in R&D spending and integration costs following the acquisition of TV/Com (see separate story). Although he would give no specifics, Walczykowski said that the TV/Com deal was a small one and insisted that the share price plunge wasn't exactly justified given the amount of planned R&D increases. He points out that the company met fourth-quarter expectations and says that top and bottom line growth are a reality for the company "for 1999 and beyond."

Yesterday, you found the reason for C-Cube's low PE/price..........

exchange2000.com

<<Others that might shed light on new or developing products include C-Cube Microsytems Inc. (CUBE), which makes integrated circuits that compress and decompress digital images and video. Investors and analysts are mixed on C-Cube chips, which have short life cycles in the rapildy evolving market for consumer electronics. >>

I always thought it was a strength, bringing new products that replace older ones, and lower the cost of products. It keeps the competition busy too.
