To all threaders,

As I notice the post I made earlier regarding the number of people on this thread who have purchased items from BII was totally ignored. Therefore either one of two things have happened. 1) No one listened or cared. 2) Although many of us have invested very few have been customers. I ask myself why?
There are a number of reasons but I will address a couple. First and foremost the site itself offers very few bargains. After the novelty of "WINNING" an item has warn off, the consumer begins to realize that they could have obtained the product for equal value at somewhere nearby. No shipping to pay, no delay in transport etc..
Secondly the products offered on the site are not very appealing...at least to me. I mean I could buy a weekend at Vegas for less than $299 (and this may include Hotel)which rather than exclusively departing from Lester B Pearson it leaves from my home airport at the Vancouver International Airport. Starting to see the picture. As well who would want to order cigars that are going to be exposed to two weekss of shipping abuse when I could buy them from the humidor of a local dealer. I know they were shipped there once already but thats not the point. My point is that if BII wants to begin to open the eyes of the consumers it has to start offering more items at better prices. I know the margins are low already and that is why I love the sports cards.
Before eveyone becomes infuriated I know that BII has other potentially more profitable avenues of business such as B to B but to catch the eye of the public (initially) it has to offer a better array of products at the site. The first time I got there I said to myself this is it. When I visit eBay I can bid on anything from scuba gear to car parts. I know the shipping costs add up coming into Canada but sometimes the site offers products that I can't find at a neighborhood shopping center.
Don't get me wrong I continue to be long on this stock (and as Crazy Canuck stated, "I ain't parting with mine") but I think the actual auction site could be expanded etc. Comments.

Good Morning Denise,

EBAY sellers ship directly to the buyers (according to the CNN story on last week). That was one of the top reasons for complaints to the company (slow shipments). EBAY's role is strictly to provide a forum for Buyers and sellers (for a fee of course).

Boolish,

I have ordered the Michael Jordan card, but since it is not actually out yet, I can't comment on shipping.
I have made a few bids on some computers, but I'm too cheap and have always been outbid. :)

Hi Denise..

I thought 11 days was too long for a simple, small package, but there is the factor of crossing the border and I don't know what that entails. I expected to see some sort of customs mark, but there wasn't anything on it at all. Then again, if BII had other packages sent at the same time to the US, they may have been passed in a block. Its hard to know.

I suspect part of the reason they have offices in both Canada and the US is to avoid the border problem (and access the consumer base)and as A. Rogers said, they did not offer the Henderson card in the US because they did not think there would be much interest here. Lots of Canadians in the US!
