Where do you get .39 from? I thought they were going to come in at .34 according to analysts. Did they say how the quarter was going during their presentation yesterday at the tech conference?

3Com Opens Government Affairs Office in the Nation's
Capital; Global Networking Leader Seeks to Forge New
Relationships With Key Policy Makers in Washington, D.C.

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 24,
1999--Global networking leader 3Com Corp. (Nasdaq:COMS)
outlined during a press briefing today key federal policy issues the
company will address in the coming year, and also announced the
opening of a Washington, D.C. government affairs office to
represent the company's policy interests on Capitol Hill and the
Executive Branch.

As critical policy issues impact the information technology industry
and the markets it serves into the next millennium, the new office
will foster a better understanding of the computer networking
industry, and will help shape the formulation of key issues affecting
the information society.

3Com will focus close attention to issues such as the deployment of
advanced/broadband technologies, the continuing debate over
funding for the so-called "E-rate" assistance in wiring under-served
schools and libraries with high-speed networks, re-authorization of
the Federal Communications Commission by Congress, encryption
policy and permanent extension of the R&D tax credit.

Gregory T. Garcia, a long-time lobbyist for the high technology
industry and an expert in international trade and encryption, has
been named manager of corporate government affairs for 3Com. In
this role, he will oversee the range of policy issues that will affect
3Com and the computer networking industry's business. He will be
3Com's principal day-to-day contact with policy makers on Capitol
Hill and the Executive Branch.

Prior to joining 3Com, Garcia served as coalition manager at
Americans for Computer Privacy, and previously lobbied for the
American Electronics Association (AEA) as assistant vice president
of trade regulation. He has also held positions with Newmyer
Associates, a public policy reporting and consulting firm, advising
Fortune 500 companies on international trade policy strategies.
Garcia is a graduate in international business from San Jose State
University.

"The convergence of voice, video and data communications on
IP-based networking infrastructures is a critical new milestone in the
development of a truly networked society for the new millenium.
The important policy changes that this new era requires, combined
with the growing need to keep our government officials abreast of
the impact of new technologies on society have made it a priority for
us to establish a visible presence in Washington," said Eric
Benhamou, CEO and chairman of 3Com Corp. "This new step
builds upon seven years of increasingly active government affairs
activities."

3Com's government affairs function in Washington, D.C. dates
back to 1992. Eric Benhamou chaired the NII Task Force at the
American Electronics Association from 1993 to 1994, and was
appointed to President Clinton's Information Technology Advisory
Committee in 1996. In addition, David Abramson, 3Com's director
of global public affairs, serves on the Board of Universal Service
Administrative Corp. as the only computer networking industry
representative.

3Com's government affairs office is located at 1201 Pennsylvania
Ave., NW, Suite 300, in Washington, D.C.

More: ARM and 3Com Advance Network Intelligence; ARM Processors to
Power a New Generation of 3Com Products, Including High Volume
Network Interface Cards - BW, 01:17 p.m Feb 25, 1999 Eastern

LOS GATOS/SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 25, 1999-- ARM
(LSE: ARM and NASDAQ: ARMHY) and 3Com Corporation (NASDAQ:COMS) have
entered into a technology alliance which will enable a new generation of advanced
networking products. 3Com has chosen to deploy the ARM architecture in a variety of
volume products, capitalizing on ARM's strengths in innovation and integration. ARM
cores will enable 3Com to provide a new range of intelligent, high-performance,
cost-effective networking solutions. 3Com will access ARM technology through
ARM's world-class silicon partnership.

Products resulting from this alliance include a new generation of intelligent network
interface cards (NICs), each containing a custom-designed application specific
integrated circuit (ASIC) with an ARM processor core. The on-board ARM processor
will enable a distributed processing architecture, whereby system and network
performance are optimized by offloading networking tasks from the host system CPU.
Protocol processing and management functions can be performed by the ARM
processor, freeing the host CPU for other system tasks.

"3Com engages with industry leaders to develop highly innovative, cost-effective
products for our OEM customers and end-users," said Tom Werner, vice president and
general manager for 3Com's LAN Connectivity Division. "We chose ARM as a our
microprocessor provider because of its market and technology leadership. The
architecture's core strengths, including performance, family compatibility, and design
reuse will allow 3Com to deliver superior NIC solutions with fast time to market."

"ARM has grown its networking business through numerous design wins in Ethernet
adapters, switches, hubs, routers, ATM chipsets, remote access concentrators and
analog and digital modems," said Reynette Au, vice president of marketing at ARM.
"While ARM has established its presence as the microprocessor of choice for wireless
communications, this strategic alliance with 3Com further establishes ARM technology
in volume networking products. ARM's viability as a networking processor is
underscored by its integration into 3Com NICs, which are known for performance,
manageability, quality and reliability." ARM Processors for Networking

In today's fabrication processes, ARM processors range in performance from 60 MHz
(54 MIPS) to 175 MHz (200 MIPS), extending to 300 MHz (400+ MIPS) for
processor cores currently in development. ARM cores are noted for performance, small
die size, low power consumption, tight code density, and multiple supply sources.
Instruction set compatibility between processor families promotes design reuse and
reduces software development time. ARM offers a complete solution, including
processor cores, peripheral IP, development tools, applications software, EDA tools
and design services. The architecture is well supported by international semiconductor
partners, leading real-time operating systems providers, third-party toolchains,
application software providers, and ARM design centers. About 3Com Corporation
