Stefan, They always gave me free drinks. Of course, that was brokers and not the NYSE. One night I was dining in St. Paul with a good broker, Frankie Fed from E.F. Hutton. There was a party for major buyside and sell side types that we were going to attend after dinner. While we were there, one of my Goldman brokers walked up to the table carrying a magnum of Dom Perignon in each hand. Could he join us? All three of you, Frankie replied. Then a buddy of all of ours, a guy from Jeffries, strode up with some single malt scotch and asked to join the party. I'm kind of sketchy after that, but I was told afterward that my presence was no longer desired in the lobby of The Marquette Hotel and every time I went to the restaurant after that, they treated me like visiting royalty. <g> I'm just surprised it was my Mother who needed the liver transplant.
