Go to the I2 website and read about it.... they are the SCM leader. (www.itwo.com). SCM and Jit manufacturing are closely related. The japanese are credited with implementing jit first (although it was "invented" or proposed by an American business school guy - forgot his name), but then SCM kind of builds on jit by communicating with suppliers to extend the build cycle via automation. I like SCM because it is the first time in my life where I worked on something that had a direct effect on the bottom line of every company that implemented it (thats unusual for enterprise automation).
