I read somewhere that lettuce screams too- and plants get nervous when bad things happen to plants near them. I have never researched this, and I am lazy, so I'm not going to research it now, but there you are.

Sometimes the bunny doesn't scream. You may be imagining things. I raised domestic lagomorphs commercially a while. Children often like bunnies at Easter and kill them with an excess of affection. Some domestic bunnies can be very affectionate and friendly. I had one that could fight off cats -- but ran into a doberman that turned him into dog food. There isn't much to say about bunnies not said in Watership Down.
