<<Christine, No I would not support a president, or anyone else that committed a violent felony. This story, if true, would be a whole new ball game. I read your post too late to see the Dateline program. If Brokaw walked I would like to ask him why.>> Have you seen it now, Del? I think MSNBC replayed it several times. One of the most interesting things I read as the result is that Democratic Senator Tom Harkin said Friday that had he seen it before the impeachment vote, he might have voted for impeachment. This is total garbage, in my opinion, because all the senators and representatives had access to her story and the corroborating affidavits of the five people she told at the time it happened. The bizarre fact that Clinton could well be a rapist was well documented in the evidence room that the Republicans keep urging everyone to visit before they voted. Anyway, Harkin sounds just like he is running for political cover. This story was well known to politicians and journalists since 1992. <<There is merit to having a deformed fetus being allowed to be born so that the parents could say goodbye and find closure. The question is not if you would want to abort, but would you allow others to choose to abort a badly deformed fetus late in the term. There is also the possibility that a badly and hopelessly deformed baby would live on for years and require constant attention. Would you be willing to do that and sacrifice your life and the lives of the other members of your family caring for an invalid that doesn't even respond?>> In my own personal opinion, it is wrong to kill babies because they are deformed. Life is not perfect, and who are we to decide who should live and who should die? I do think there are alternatives available beyond families being drained caring for these people. I do think that it is acceptable for doctors to try and determine what the compromised baby is trying to do--live or die--and not make heroic measures to save a child simply because the technology is available to do it. This is a hugely grey area, admittedly.
