Mike:People can buy Dell shares any time before the ex dividend date (Mar.5th) and still participate in the split.

That is wrong. You would not believe how many times I've seen someone say this. You can buy the stock one minute before the closed on the date before the stock split and still get the split.

This has got to be the single most misunderstood topic regarding splits.
