Kash, The k6-2-450 is definitely being timed to crash Intels party. Especially good timing in that Intel has already crashed their own party by getting into the security business. I can't say about any other announcements. No, I don't own any AMD at this time. We will see when this correction due to interest rates fears plays out. Up until Intel decided to get into the security business I saw the K6-III as a nice stop gap that would enable AMD to get to the K7 without a lot of losses. Maybe even a slight profit, but as this CPUID balloons and the possibility of a Pentium II recall looms larger, the K6-III may be the right chip at the right time. Even if it was 2 months late. All the while, the K6-2-450 will keep the Celeron nicely in check in retail boxes. Interestingly, with the K6-2-450 basically shipping and the K6-III-450 a few weeks out, one must ask why?, since they are the same core. What's the difference?...The cache. Could the cache be causing a problem, a heat problem? Hint? Jim
