Intel will back out of it, IMHO.
Interest rate fears are even more powerful than Intel slipping on a CPUID banana peel. So I guess if you want to hold Intel long term you can use the rate fears and the CPUID fears as a buying opportunity.
Depends how long term your time frame aspect is.
AMD has to ramp the K6-III and develop a whole new chip in the K7, including chipset and motherboard and ramp it.
Intel still has the easier route....they can just take off the CPUID. As far as the "real" P-III, they seem to have delayed the new chipset until september that supports 133MHz bus. Even then a new chipset and adding more L1 seems to be the easier route. Intel also seems to be a little further ahead on .18u whereas AMD has to take a design (K7) not yet
proven on .25u, to .18u and at a new FAB no less. I'd say AMD really has their work cut out for them.
