Can I assume you own shares....Are you pondering a sell ? Boy, I'm long term and was so bullish on CPQ a year ago; just don't see it doing the right things anymore. All of my other purchases have done so well the past year; it makes me sick that I chose CPQ over MSFT because I thought CPQ was undervalued at 34. I'v made a whopping 6%, but could've almost doubled my $$ with MSFT.

In the long run, upgrades, downgrades don't mean a thing. Neither does good press or bad press.

The thing I want to know is how Management is running the business. I have serious doubts about Management's ability to execute on anything involving competition. Yes, if the PC industry is growing 20% with steady margins, CPQ should prosper. But the true test of a company's strength is how they adapt rather than react when there's a competitive environment.

My best example would be to compare Silicon Graphich with Sun Microsystems. The former has finally won over skeptics that thought Windows NT would crush all Unix players. SUnw is now doing better than ever before without compromising it's position. While SGI, with gross mismanagment finally capitulated to NT and is struggling in both environments.

What I cant figure out is, how long will shareholders tolerate this before we take a stand. And taking a stand does not mean filing some stupid lawsuit where the only winners are the attorneys.
