On puts,

You know, I actually went to a former AMEX option MM on that question.

He said the same thing, he asked who was writing the puts?

I said Jimmy, I don't know.

So the only thing that we all know for certain is that there are a heck of a lot of puts vs calls. Yes, it may mean nothing.

In my limited experience, though, writers don't often lose money so it does affect my bias a bit.
