Another point on the 2.4v issue. In the "absolute maximum ratings," the maximum core voltage for the K6-3 was raised to 2.6 volts (K6 and K6-2 were maximum 2.5 volts). This means one of two things, either
1. AMD did extensive testing for chip failure at 2.6 volts, or possibly 2.7 volts and found no failures OR
2. The oxide thinkness was increased.

My guess is, probably 1, not 2.
