JM -- a very sobering look at the position of the USPS...lots said about software and firmware...I think we have to ask ourselves about the probability of difficulties with the humanware factor in this equation. No, don't get me wrong, some of my best friends work for the USPS, but as an organization they do have a bit of a history for having difficulty in successfully resolving personal issues within the organization. Is it possible that y2k issues will be a negative influence on alread strained relations?

John:
Take it as a compliment that I'm glad you did not make the [comments] that 'went down hard'. I respect *your* objectivity much more when it comes to serious, unopinionated, factual matters like these!

Dear john: Therefore, we believe the Postal Service should immediately reevaluate the initial assessment and shift priority to issues that are absolutely necessary to ensure that core business processes work in the year 2000.

So they are BEGINNING with the PAYROLL FUNCTIONS??? haha FIGURES. jdn
