Hey paul,

Let's see now??? Last quarter AMD beats estimates made before the quarter started but misses the estimates made during the last week of the quarter by $.04. Made them a dismal failure. While they were being a dismal failure, they took over the sub $1,000 category from Intel. They promptly announced they would not make any money at all this quarter and would probably loose money. That should take care of the whisper #'s and the anaylists that would depth charge a good quarter by inflating estimates. (Hey, I was guilty too. I guessed $.41)

So, that brings us to this quarter. It seems that AMD has taken over the Desktop market from Intel. 43% vs 40% Ouch!! So much for not being able to produce and market. Has anybody seen a <366 mhz AMD machine in any stores this quarter. Only in laptops. OOPS!! Looks like AMD is producing and shipping the highest % of desktop chips, selling the most machines, and we are not hearing anything about bad parts or chips nobody wants. I PREDICT $.15 FOR Q1!!

Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

BT

Kash,

Have you heard anything about a low cost super 7 compatible K7 option as well.

This is very unlikely. The differences in bus protocols would require a radically different core.

Kash,

Re: "K7 ... I am expecting a May release to co-incide with AMD's 30th anniversary."

Kash, do you expect AMD to be shipping these K7 out of MegaFlop25 (tm PREngel)
or Dresden. BTW Kash, I continue to hear "bad things" about the Motorolo
Copper process transfer to AMD. If these K7's come from the MegaFlop .25um
process, they will probably run at 400mhz ... I can see it now: K7 advertised
for "first time buyers" of computers in <$500 machines. <ggg>

Make It So,
Yousef

Kash,
RE:"I am expecting a May release to co-incide with AMD's 30th anniversary."

---I believe that RDM is keeping track of estimate K7 releases.
I'm looking at a May release myself. Sounds like you've been receiving some good information.
As a matter of fact I may even MOVE UP my estimated release date for the K7. Things are looking pretty good.

RE:"Have you heard anything about a low cost super 7 compatible
K7 option as well.".

Best not to talk to much on an open forum but a lower cost package makes sense. Can a K7 connect via socket 7? Would the cache have to be
on die?
