Clark, Just a note -- Any potential jurist who confesses to
an "understanding of the issues at hand" , should, and most likely
would, be eliminated during the selection process.

IE they look for totally ignorant people like myself, and then proceed
to teach them the "basics", during the course of the trial.

This is why, in part, the Markman hearing exists--to filter out the bad claims before they get to the jury. Your complaints exist against practically any jury; it is an endemic problem of lay juries in highly technical matters. I believe that a jury has been requested; at least one article has indicated it will be a jury trial.
