tom, you could roll down or sell 1/3 or 1/2 no to lock in profits. or, let it ride. i'm slightly down on put positions put on about 2 months ago. i'm lettin' them rock and roll. if i lose then i reload with cash.

oh, and my theme hasn't even played out yet. the channel stuff and crappy pc revs hitting the news. we are getting close. hopefully within a week or two. ;-) most of my options are aprils.

T, Intel's ad budget is huge for Tweak III. So far, the OEMs have brought out the number of boxes they were obligated to bring out, but the high prices don't seem to have many takers.

I agree about monitors. My gut feeling is that monitors haven't improved since 1994, so folks who are buying new boxes are not switching monitors. Also, since so many boxmakers and stores are offering free monitors as part of a cheap system, the number of folks buying the brand names are way down. You may not want a US Flapdoodle monitor, but if you get it free, you are sure as heck going to try it before you shell out $400 for a Compaq or Sony monitor.

That is another reason I don't like Leaps as much. You have too much on the table and it can make you sell before you are ready. I think we get a dead cat bounce here, but Compaq and Intel are looking downright puny and Dell may be in the 70s for awhile. It is hard to believe, but the blundering herd may be catching on that all in not well in PC City, after having Wall Street Week, Barron's and CNBS tell them "things have never been better," for so long. <g>

I was back in the CompUSA store yesterday, and what seemed mainly to be choking aisles were monitors. What do we make of that?

Hmmm . . . perhaps the influx of first-time buyers has slowed below expectations and the upgraders who already have monitors prefer the sub-$1,000 PCs?
