UG, I thought that's the program guys trump card.

Not good ones, no (if I understand you correctly).

Programs (and programmers) who need to hide behind proprietaryness (?) are pretty ordinary. A good program(mer) is one which has value without obfuscation or obscurity.

Suppose one wants to locate a stock with the following price pattern:

XX
XXXX
XXXXX
XXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXX
XXXXX
XXXX
XX

By the above, I mean that the price cycles up and down, but in decreasing amplitude, or volatility, until the trading range is fairly small. Then it might start cycling to greater amplitude again. But suppose one wants to know the stocks, or the timing for one stock, where the amplitude (volatility?) is relatively small.

What would be the best MSWin indicator to pick this up?

Thanks a lot,
Nicholas
