Yes, Zurdo, my situation is rather common. A lot of people who have IP providers like AOL start right up in a browser. Many other providers first have people log into their service then click to get the browser up (or click on Eudora or whatever for e-mail). Leaving the browser or e-mail program open even after logging out of the IP is common for people who are going to get back in later and leaving their PC on.

See you later. I'm getting off for now to get some non-computer things done. I want to be ready to spend some time on tomorrow in case we get the announcement :o)

Lynn

OT: Who's logged on..

It should be an almost trivial exercise for them to make it available for you to see who is logged on. When you authenticate, your IP address is logged and you get placed on the "logged-in list". Every couple seconds, a program verifies that your IP is still active and you are still authenticated. If Lynn disconnected her dial-up connection, her IP address would not respond and she would be taken off the "logged-in" list and forced to re-authenticate next time she tried to use her browser.

If you tried to connect from a different IP address, with the same browser (ie, dropped connection), you would be forced to reconnect. Also, the browser would have a cookie that would expire after a certain period of time, say an hour. So even if you reconnected from the same IP address with the same browser (maybe like Lynn) if you were inactive for an hour, you would have to re-authenticate.

It's a very common scheme, E*trade uses it, online banks, etc.
