Here we go again with "due to" replacing the perfectly serviceable "because." It is utterly dreadful misusage.

"Due" is an adjective and modifies a noun or pronoun.

"Because of" is a phrasal preposition that introduces an adverbial phrase expressing reason.

Correct usage of "due":

Our success is due to your efforts.

The report, due on Monday, should provide an explanation.

The officers were accorded due respect.
