I think it is -- it's one of those self-fulfilling prophecy things, everybody "knows" it's supposed to go down after it breaks the 50-DMA, so everybody sells, and viola, it goes down.

I think the real move away from the 50-DMA traditionally happens after it makes a stab back toward it. If it fails to break through and stay above it, then it's dumpola time. (Check out MU's break and brief re-test just a few days ago.)

(3) Some stocks react well to 50 DMA
(4) Some stocks do not react well to 50 DMA
(5) You have to know history of stock, say for last 10 years.
(6) Treat stocks like humans, every one reacts different.
(7) That said, a stock going down will go below it's
50 DMA, and also it's 48,49,51,53,etc DMA's
