I know what you mean, when I switched to Cable from Sat Feed I suddenly had the cable in here. I was reviewing some of Cook's trading tapes and so I threw in a set but only used it for the VCR.

I finally broke down, hooked the cable to the set, turned on CNBC and my trading went right to blazes.

So now if there is a trade on it's either muted or changed to Bloomberg TV. Usually it ends up muted all day long and I never notice.

I agree on the Newspapers as well, although I scan headlines. A trader in Florida once told me to do that, because as sure as shooting the reversal often comes three days later. If every paper on the rack is blaring that the Dow is on it's way to to the Moon then have a few puts in your pocket three days later. It really has worked quite often, I recall three times in particular. One was a Garzarelli proclamation, another a Cohen and the third was AG's "irrational exuberance" (for that one the play was to have calls 3 days later).
