Alcatel bids $37/share for Xylan

PARIS, March 2 (Reuters) - French telecommunications firm Alcatel said on Tuesday it had entered into a definitive deal to buy
network switch maker Xylan Corp for $37 per share or about $2.0 billion.

Alcatel said it would make a cash tender offer for all outstanding shares in Xylan that would start on Monday, March 8 and run for 20 business days.

It said its offer had the unanimous approval of the boards of Alcatel and Xylan.

Nancy, Steve and other private messages,

OTOTOTOT

It is really not worth pursuing. Some of you get it, some don't, no big deal.

Just a clarification. I was born in HK, making me a subject of the British Crown Colony, (BCC) Commonwealth of the United Kingdom. For those who don't know, that means I was a second class subordinate to the citizens of UK with no privilege of citizenship. I can't even visit without a visa. HK was a great place, if you are white and British. You can get a job as a policeman, starting at the officer's level immediately while the local Chinese start from the bottom. If you want to be a civil servant, your pay starts with benefits equalling more than double that of your Chinese counter part.

It wasn't until the US state department repeatedly complained about how UK violated human rights before they finally stopped and decided to return HK to China. You do remember that, don't you? You also remembered how the US State Department was furious, when UK refused to accept her subjects as citizens when they were kicked out of HK, not even the Indians who they imported to HK originally as quasi slaves.

I have never lived in China and the only country that I ever have citizenship in is the United States of America.

We all know the BCC is no longer in existence. So if any one ever suggests that "did you ever think about moving back there?", please specify where. Better yet, send me a plane ticket, first class preferred. You all know my fondness for travelling.
