chuz...re: investor/speculator...

well put...understand well the need to recoup risk capital...the classic definition of speculation..

is not the investor now the quintessential speculator...for he best understands risk/reward.....and has the courage to hold fast even in inflationary times.....we tend to put a short term period on what is speculation versus investment....but today, speculation is more mania disregarding risk, only seeing reward...until the fat lady sings(an operatic comment)...

i see dell as a perfect example...how many bought at 100+, and sold at -80.....speculators at the time of purchase?.....to me true speculation should result in a gain....as long as you know your initial posturing was correct and nothing has changed fundamentally...

understand reward...minimize risk...which time affords....

i thank you, and hope some of the nervous dell holders can gain from opposing views...knowledge is power...power is self assuring...assurance brings tranquility...the best decisions are made with a settled mind....thanks, ed a.
