Dave, I may be naive when it comes to market cycles, but don't you see a difference in the economy of the 1970's versus the economy today?

example 1: inflation
example 2: technology

JH

p.s. if Dell dropped into the 50's & 60's.....BACK UP THE TRUCKS!!!

<Facts. You don't like my facts>

This is the first time I remember hearing your facts.
No, I don't "dislike" your "facts". I disagree with them.
There is a difference. I "dislike" you calling the thread "disillusional"..that was unnecessary.

< The price someone is willing to pay...>

This is a fact?

<Comparing oil drillers to Dell, Dell's high PE>

We can pursue this if you wish...this is more interesting...

<Nifty fifty comparison to Dell>

Again, this is more interesting to discuss...one point to chew on: Compare the economic environment of 1974 to today in your comparison....

<Daytraders cushioning this stock>

What proof do you have for this?

Sorry for the short responses....if you are willing to expand on your arguments, I would gladly expansively respond..These are not new arguments here, and they have been discussed at length, but they are worthy of revisiting again and again...

<All I am suggesting is that these are dangerous times...time to take money off the table>

Let me suggest that if an investors would have made a long bet with any of the tech-bellweathers during any of the "dangerous times" of the past 5 years, you would have looked like a genius..

In short, you think it is 1974 again? I say it is 1995, 1996, 1997, or 1998....the thread can decide which period today most closely resembles...Again, if you elaborate on your answer, I will accordingly...
