I always had a problem with what I suppose is called Classical Technical Analysis because it always seemed in hindsight that it obvious.

If you can roll enough of them together then what they end up doing is giving you a High Probability of success. Even then it's not a sure fire thing. Which may be why I became more attracted to pattern recognition. What I use is not as complex as Elliot Wave so it can be done on the fly and you just implement the oscillators or whatever you like for entries and exits but the pattern suggests the general direction that the market should move in.

Pattern techniques aren't always sure fire either but it's less time consuming than looking at a representative sampling of T/A techniques and so lends itself to day trading more easily.
