Fiber optic transmission is definitely superb but it is indeed a long way away from becoming a familiar friend. I'm an advocate of "FTC" (Fiber to the Curb) but one has to realize that not only the equipment and labor costs involved are high but also the fact that the currently available fiber is far more vulnerable to temperature changes than copper is.

I do hope we can get some of this deployed over time, but over time it will be.
Remember that it will have to come all the way from the CO to your house.

(Gosh, I wonder who helped put the original GTE/Sprint though Colorado Springs ??)
