CNBC reports "RUMORS" now - that Intel is going to announce that it will miss its numbers. They say Fortune online is reporting the same "rumor" and that Intel has much further downside... geez.

When I used to call on Julian, he held quite a bit more Intel stock. As I recall, there were times when he had 5-6M shares. That would have been back in 96-97 and he did very well with them.

When INTC struggled in late '97 and Julian's technology analyst, Steve Shapiro, left to go out on his own, I think Tiger started to trim their Intel holdings (really nobody there to help Julian keep the faith) Plus, Julian really liked Tom Kurlak (obvious to all now) and Tom's bearish stance didn't help.

Who knows where they are now. I always found these quarterly statements to be of not much use when you're talking about the fast money types like Julian. For all you know he could have been in and out of the stock several times since this report.

I must say, however, I always found Julian to be one of the real personalities on the street. I always looked forward to my meetings with him. Grove was impressed with him too. He is his own man for sure.
