hehehehe!! Why would you regret it Eric.

Well anyway, when a patch has to go through beta testing - that is getting pretty bad. Lets see, the first beta of Win98 SP1 was in October. This beta is March. So we should see the 3rd beta by June/July and the final release of the Win98 SP1 by November?

Do you have an understanding what a PATCH is? MSFT's "PATCH BETA" definition is there way of addressing their inability to write clean code upon release in an acceptable amount of time. By releasing it as a patch BETA they can easily use it as an excuse when the Patch is released and people/press rag on them that MSFT has yet again put out another bug-ridden crappy piece of code that has caused more grief than it intended to solve.

The problem is that the industry and media is not falling for MSFT's Marketing Fluff and FUD anymore. They know what MSFT is up to by putting out PATCH BETAs. It was plastered all over the front page of this weeks PCWeek how even Ballmer has recognized that his company cannot write clean code.

Why do you think Windows2000 is going on a 3 year delay?

But Eric, you are right - when it comes to MSFT - patches/features (whatever you want to call it) should be released as Betas that should be tested on the sucker consumer that has really no choice but to be the guinea-pig for these betas if only to solve their current problems of MSFT OS code. A rose by any other name is still a rose Eric.

You are sooo blind to the MSFT FUD machine that I feel sorry for you. Anyone that believes MSFT is putting out Patch Beta code for the interests of their customer is depriving a village of an idiot!

(did you regret responding to me Eric - hehe)
