Ed:You sir,make an excellent point. Onslae,Buy.com and other dot.com wannabes sell products at cost to gain market share and to build 'brand equity',I believe it is a losing proposition for these 2nd tier companies in this aggressive and fast moving E-Commerce world.For one thing these guys have 'huge' investments to get into the game and secondly they are not making any profit from selling their wares,with these strategies they don't have a chance to compete against companies like Dell.As you know the cost to Dell to get into this business is practically next to nothing,like you said they don't need to build too much brand equity here as it is already established,little or no inventory,they have money,and this above all-they make money,'nuf said.
