Here's my take...it's "fair" to everyone that this info gets out now, any leaks would be far too valuable if this was kept hidden. And, many were angry over the news gossip and leaks surrounding the failed AHP merger. That stunk.

If this happens, imagine how screwed any arbs would be who may be short on MTC due to the MTC/DLP combo. And imagine how much money could be made on the opposite play if leaks of a merger got into the proper hands.

So I will agree 100% percent with Traversa (and NOT CNBC). The merger wouldn't happen today or the next day, but maybe next week or next month. And I also agree 1000% with the analysts who point out Monsanto would not want to get back into the chemical biz. So DuPont would have to handle that issue as part of this transaction...which would be another avenue for leaks should DuPont solicit a spinoff.

The bottom line is I think this might happen, and I am happy this is being handled up-front, and not like AHP where too many got burned.

...all this said, note that a Pfizer/Monsanto combination would NOT have to struggle with these delay issues. Check out what has been said at a high level there (Tony W. and I have found some interesting statements); you could wake up and find Pfizer the owner of Monsanto next week...
