Bill,

It is unlikely that somebody other than those two would do the underwriting. The inside bidders ALWAYS have a big advantage, and they are already inside.

Of course, upping the rating always helps you look good to a customer, and generate additional business.

I'm not impressed with CEO Lew Platt. At conference calls,
he is forever the generalist- particularly with accounting
and financial issues. He typically answers "I don't know."
or even "we're not going to talk about that now."
The CNBC interview a couple of days ago was pathetic. When
Mr. Platt was asked about the current state of business he
replied, "I haven't been following it the last couple of
days, I've been too busy." Lew Platt should have been out
on his ass a long time ago. He has cost shareholders tens of
billions of dollars in lost market capitalization. He should
be held accountable for the lackluster performance of a
company with great products and technology, but poor execution.

Does anyone know where the SI site got the closing quote for HWP at 75 1/2 as of 4:50 PM? If they are using Instinet I would also expect a later quote for IBM (shown as 171 7/8 at 4:03 PM). Hope the HWP quote is correct!
