You know as well as I do that churches must be tax free.
No, I don't know that. If they provide a useful service to their members and they want to build a building, they should pay property tax just like every other building in the city (ignoring for now buildings owned by the city or state). If it's a poor humble church they can meet in each other's homes. If they decide their preacher is good enough to pay, he should fork over an equivalent (not more, not less) income tax. Otherwise he can get a day job and volunteer on the weekends, just like everyone else.
