Stitch, OT *** re >Both [Christie's and Sotheby's] have stepped up activities in SE Asia over the last year as more and more collectibles and art are going on the block.

Interesting. Does that mean the economies are on the mend?

Stitch,
<<Both have stepped up activities in SE Asia over the last year as more and more collectibles and art are going on the block.>>
Odd, I've heard the opposite. While it's just second-hand gossip, I've heard of Asian Arts auctions being canceled for lack of interest, high percentages of lots going unsold, and a complete disappearance of quality Asian buyers looking to repatriate high end pieces.
Korean buyers were very active about 1 1/2 years ago but totally disappeared last summer. On the other hand, no better time to pick up quality pieces for very fair prices.
