A little bit of a strange day today. There was a pop in share price at the very end of the day with some decent size blocks trading. Rumours that S3 is up for sale.

I've been reading the newsgroups, seems like the new ATi card has the usual driver problems.

I wonder if tomorrow will be jsut as interesting. The 3dfx/stb proxy sould be out very soon and then I can fianlly do some number crunching (I'm not as courageous as Pat and am waiting for the official document).

OT

>> Sun- are you still long VISX...wooh!

I wish! A week ago I was looking at VISX, XYLN, NAV, and NIN, thinking that I should buy them all. Then I thought, "there is a big crash coming. Concentrate on the short side and buy these after the dust settles". So that is what I did. So far I've made about 5k on my shorts, and I've missed about 50k on the above stocks :(( I still think we are headed over the cliff and have only short and cash in my portfolio. I will add to my short position in any rallies that follow. You can intuitively see that things are not normal and the market is headed for a crash, because TDFX has been going up lately <G>

Off topic - PSX2

As spec, PSX2 is amazing. Downloaded any of its demo? You have got to see it for yourselves to believe it. Sony just gave me another reason to throw money their way. Will be adding it to my collection of S-Linked Sony appliances - DD receiver, DVD player, 36" Wega, etc. If it could only be sooner...

Sony is definitely planning for home digital convergence. PSX2 will be a next-generation home appliance, providing DVD, gaming, and Internet surfing capability. In several years, when HDTV takes off, they will be ready to reap the rewards.

PSX2 does not present a direct threat to the PC graphics market. I don't believe Sony has any plans to participate in the PC 3D race. They much rather dominant the larger gamenetainment (newly coined) market. Better to change the rules on the competition and stay ahead of it, then to join the PC rat race.
