Anthony, Regarding my post earlier, what's the deal when you put in an order, then a cancel....and your order is "live" for over an hour and you can't get a STATUS on the order. They neither cancel OR fill the order. Seems they can sit there and trade against me. I shorted a stock at 43-3/4 then cancelled within 6 seconds. I would have reshorted at an eighth higher, but I didn't get a confirm on the cancel. So I sat. The stock fell over a half point. I called my broker because I still showed a "live order" and no confirm on the cancel....15 MINUTES LATER!!! They said the would call the floor (ADPSIS) and find out....they came back on the phone, and said they would call me when "the floor" reported to them. They never called. In the meantime, the stock started to move back up. I wanted to cover, but didn't want to won the stock if my order had in fact been cancelled. I called my broker back. By now it is 1 HOUR LATER! They still wouldn't/couldn't give me a STATUS. Now I was flipping. Watley said "look, if you want to cancel it...we'll take the cancel." But I could tell they were only willing to do it because I was "in the money" had my order been filled. I said that I didn't want to cancel it, I wanted to cover for my profit if it were filled, and if it were cancelled then nothing! But I didn't want Watley or the MM to sit there for OVER AN HOUR and potentially trade against me after the fact----give me a fill if it benefitted them, or a cancel if not. I was so pissed I cancelled. Watley made the money. What is the LAW. I am/was spitting bullets. AN HOUR....NO STATUS!! please help. I don't like to feel helpless, although I am leaving them. I like to know what the law is and what they have the right to do. I don't fully know.
