Cliff, I don't think the blackout is a tactic to avoid releasing any bad news. What could bad news have done today that frightened investors have not accomplished by themselves?

I think what we saw was a combination of scared longs and opportunists who bought in the last 2 weeks bailing out on the lack of a pop. Who can blame the longs for being frightened? We haven't seen volume like this since early Feb, when the stock hit 1.25, and the retracement has been painful to watch. And after the late Feb bounce back to over a 1.00, the momentum and short-termers have just given up. This issue looks bad on the charts. Good.

On the other hand, this recent bailout action, coupled with the "news blackout" is a very intriguing scenario. It looks like (IMO, of course) PLFM is getting ready to rock. Beneath following the thread and blowing in the wind with whatever wind is strongest that day, there exists the company itself, with all its warts and possibilities. Howard may "owe" a PR, and after saying as much in the symposium announcement and not delivering, I have to suspect that there is more to this than a stall or some misdirection. Foote would have loved to make a major PR at the symposium; he as much as warmed up the long trumpets in expectation of doing so. Why did no PR surface. Probably because some part of the "significant corporate announcement" is just not ready to eat yet. I will try to hold on until the cake is fully risen, unless the suspense becomes unbearable.

All the best,
M.

The stock seems to do better without PR's. Every time there's a PR it drops. I hate when PLFM announces a PR. Their conference agenda did not state that there would be a PR only a press conference. There is a big difference. One is meant to convey important news and one is to provide the media with a forum to ask questions.
