The console wars are heating up; Sega Dreamcast 2 called Avatar leaked:

>>Industry: FGN Online can exclusively reveal full
technical details of Sega's next hardware project.
Code-named Avatar, it seems as if the machine,
destined for a Japanese release in 2002, is set to
outshine PlayStation 2 in terms of performance. This
incredible news comes direct from NEC's research
labs in Japan, courtesy of an anonymous source.
Software is already confirmed as running on the
prototype, which is said to be DVD-enabled and
backwards compatible to Dreamcast. All the leaked
information regarding the ability of the enigma
console is listed below, including CPU, graphics
processor, co-processor and sound processor stats.
In the mood for 60 million polys per second with all
effects enabled? Sega was unavailable for comment
at the time of going to press.<<

Good news for all you N64 users. From David Jenkins piece titled EuroSpeak in Gamasutra this week:

>>Nintendo Sex Survey. Research commissioned by Nintendo (and
therefore completely true) has revealed that N64 owners perform better
in bed. The survey talked to the partners of a representative sample of
British males, and asked the women to rate their boyfriends according to
stamina, vigour, technique, flexibility, inventiveness, and consideration.
As it turned out, N64 owners came out on top against their console and
non-console rivals. Alternate uses for the Nintendo Rumble Pak are not
thought to have influenced the female vote. Some wags have already
suggested that the reason for N64 owners' success is that they practice
more on their own.<<

Why would THQ distribute through Centresoft? THQ already has a branch in the UK.

And I think that any deal between MWY, ATVI or THQI would be a merger of equals, rather than a big fish-little fish situation.

At first glance, it might make sense for MWY to merge with ATVI. But to please wall street, ATVI would need to be the acquirer; if ATVI bought MWY, it would be accretive, but if MWY bought ATVI, it would be dilutive. And ATVI couldn't afford to buy MWY unless it issued tons of stock. And I doubt that ATVI is looking for a big merger, or else they might not have agreed to buy XPRT. In my opinion, the only way ATVI is involved is if they are the intended target. I've considered the possibility of a THQI/ATVI combo, but it would be dilutive for THQI to make the purchase. If ATVI bought THQI, it would be accretive, but they'd need to offer more than $40 before management would agree (I'd hope). And that's not likely to happen. And MWY doesn't make a good combo with THQI, IMO. If THQI were to merge with another publisher of similar size, it would have to have a strong PC presence. MWY is strong on N64, and it has a coin-op division, so I can't see how that would support THQI's long-term plans. I don't think GTIS will be involved, since they are a house of problems. And AKLM is a possibility, but only as the acquiror. I could see AKLM buying ATVI, but not THQI. It couldn't afford THQI at $40.
