I look at the PR as significant. Wash away the crap about a dynamic forum, blah, blah, blah ... and what we've got is:

1. 3 TU-160 aircraft valued at upto $450 million purchased for $20 million and 20% revenue. Sounds like a VERY good deal to me.

2. News Blackout on a deal ... deals?? ... that is being finalized. No news until ALL parties are satisfied. Significant development to me.

So, to me, it looks all that are holding long have some exciting times ahead. Ignore that whitewashing of the conference itself and dig into the specifics of the PR.

Rory.

Well, I don't see where The Ukraine needs any out-of-date military planes. Surely they won't start WW III. So, they get $20 million! THAT's the deal for them. Anything in the future is gravy, and can only be viewed as pie in the sky. (I'm sure that $20M to them is worth FAR for than it is to us.)

T, If you had some TU-160's in a vacant lot, just waiting to turn into compost, wouldn't you look to make a deal? This deal shows that the Russians are willing to gamble, but also keep in mind that the market for 1980's-vintage Soviet bombers is not a large one.

I think it's great news, but the technical hurdles are staggering, and competition will be ferocious by the time PIC gets the kinks worked out. What is of more immediate significance is the "quiet period" regarding the as-yet-unnamed telco. This could have a very immediate effect on the share price, assuming we're not being spun or strung along again.

For a good look at the other side of the argument, see stockdetective.com's commentary on PLFM. RB posters have called PLFM a scam, using that commentary as fuel. You may not agree, but the points are valid. My own DD has also turned up very negative analysis of PLFM's orbital-launch program, saying the supersonic release of the rocket portion is an extremely difficult problem (see ref. Kaplan and article posted here previously.)

I'm long on this science-fiction story, but everyone should be aware of the track record of the company and the many obstacles PLFM will face in realizing its potential.

All the best,
M.
