Lynx is lacking capabilities that Navigator has (graphics, java, etc). However mutt (I don't use pine anymore) can do everything that Communicator mail can, and can do it faster and without having to take your hands off the keyboard. Another big advantage of mutt/lynx over an XWindows equivalent is the ability to run over a slow modem connection. Although it is possible to export an X display over a modem line, it works much like running molasses through a colander.

Actually I do about 50% of my browsing through lynx. I have even posted a lot here from lynx. Its a pain, but it works. It is faster because there are no pictures. When I have some serious searching to do I go to Netscape, or when I'm at sites that aren't lynx friendly. Of course this is only because I still have to use a modem.
