Michael, thanks for your amazingly accurate and quick hunting of the Web details confirming it was indeed L M Ericcson up to nefarious works in Mexico. Meanwhile Peter, thanks for the 1992 press release about Ericy's brand new CDMA wideband technologies. They were 'working' on CDMA well before that too! Way back in 1989 they signed a non-disclosure agreement with Qualcomm so that Qualcomm could demonstrate their CDMA efforts to Ericy. In the intervening 3 years and with continued development and demonstration of CDMA in mobile by Qualcomm, with an IPO in December 1991, it was obviously becoming evident even to Ericsson that perhaps Qualcomm might be able to come up with some power control, rake receivers and other clever techniques to make it work. So by June 1992, Ericy realized they better start figuring out what to do next. Not long after that, they evolved the strategy that CDMA could not and would not work, was late to market and generally GSM is was going to be the way of the future. For all the slime Ericy has put out, there is still no CDMA handset one can see if action using a real basestation network with real spectrum in a real world. The production ratio of slime to handsets remains very, very large, though allegedly Ericy is now interested in forming some commercial relationship with Qualcomm to purchase Qualcomm technology. Although they don't need any of it. And even though Ericy invented it. Very, very peculiar. Meanwhile, Q! is having a very, very good quarter. So although Lief thinks we are seeking scapegoats, I think most Q! shareholders would be thinking that things are humming along nicely. Maurice
